Code of ConductCODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS & FANS
Due to problems with some parents / spectators, the Ute Conferences issues these conduct
guidelines:
- Clean up your garbage after the game.
- Remember “Kids play sports for their own enjoyment, not ours.”
- Encourage your child to play by the rules.
- Teach your child that winning games does not make a winner, and losing games does not make a loser.
- Teach your child through example, that good sportsmanship is truly the most important part of sports.
- Teach your child that officials are an important part of the game. If you allow the official his/her integrity, his/her calls will be fair. Never physically or verbally abuse the officials. Understand that their job is to officiate the game and that they are human. No official is going to make calls that will be supported by everyone, all the time, and that sometimes they make mistakes. (Any person identified to the district officers as being abusive toward a referee shall be immediately removed from the field.)
- Applaud good plays and keep your mouth shut when any child fails.
- Refrain from criticizing the coaches. Explain to your child that they are volunteers and, in some cases, novices. Do not verbally abuse any coach or official at any time. If you have a problem with a specific individual, take up the matter privately with a district official.
- Remember that your actions directly affect your child for his/her benefit or detriment.
- Remember that things may not be resolved to your satisfaction. No one is always right.
- Volunteer your services when needed.
- Cheer your team on as loudly as you wish. Do not use foul, abusive, or vulgar language. (Use of foul and abusive language will result in immediate removal from the field.)
- Never incite players from your team to take actions that may be harmful to themselves or others. Understand that football is a contact sport with potential for serious injury, and while physical contact is a part of the game, gratuitous violence is not. Punishment of players for acts of violence outside the accepted rules is severe.
- Do not physically or verbally abuse the district officers; they are parents volunteering to do a job. They are there to manage and protect the facility and its grounds.
- Controlling your temper and tongue is a symbol of your own maturity or lack thereof.
